As the leading provider of high quality, vocationally-based tertiary education in the Waikato, we want to make it easy for people to fit learning, training and career development into their existing lives.
For example, many of our students are working and trying to fit study in on top of that. So we need to provide them with more choice of how and when they study and give them 24 hour access to essential services like computers…
In 2003 we embarked upon a project called Siteworx to transform our campuses and meet the changing needs of learners within our community.
It's not about using more space…in fact, we'll occupy around two thirds of the space we currently do! It's about using technology and innovative construction to make the space we have more flexible and more suited to our students' needs.

A social space for students
Our first major milestone in reshaping our campuses is now complete with the construction of our award-winning city Hub. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Gallagher Hub is where studying meets recreation on our city campus. With two cafés, two events rooms, over 120 computers, printers and scanners, study rooms, a full library, social spaces and numerous support services, the Hub has changed the way students study and learn at Wintec.
