Wintec Ethnic Community Scholarship
Background
The Wintec Ethnic Community Scholarships were established in 2010 to provide a learning opportunity and to strengthen Waikato Technical Institute’s (Wintec) connection and support for the permanent residents of the Waikato Ethnic community, who by reason of economic or personal circumstances might not otherwise pursue further full-time study at Wintec in 2011.
Eligibility
- Either New Zealand citizens or have permanent residency.
- Currently living within the Waikato region.
- Nominated by an ethnic community group. The predominant groups are: Chinese, Indian, Pasifika, Somalia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Korean, Congolese, Tamil, Indonesian and other community groups that have been identified by the Wintec Engagement Manager. Waikato Secondary Schools will also be able to put forward one nomination each.
- Applicant must have demonstrated capability through prior learning, or be succeeding in or have successfully completed a programme(s) of study.
- Eligible to enrol full time in a mainstream course or programme in Semester One, 2011 at Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec).
- Not previously enrolled at Wintec in a mainstream course or programme
Value
Two scholarships will be offered. Each scholarship will have a maximum value of $4500.00 and will be for a maximum tenure of one year for study beginning in Semester One, 2011. The scholarship will cover $4500.00 towards tuition fees only. If there is any shortfall in tuition fees this will have to be paid by the student.
