Ngati Porou Hansol Forestry Scholarships

Background

To demonstrate a commitment to support general community development but more specifically to develop foresty expertise and skill among Ngati Porou. Hansol ( an internationally recognised Korean forestry company) are offering assistance to University or Tertiary students who are direct descendants of blocks particpating in the Ngati Porou Hansol Forestry Joint Venture.

Eligibility

To be eligible for etiher catergory the applicant must:

• Have direct whakapapa to the landowners or particpating blocks in the Ngati Porou Hansol Forestry Joint Venture, and
• Be a tertiary student or enrolled to become one in the next academic year
• Selection will  be based on academic merit and/or the ability to successfully complete the course of study and show a commitment to their whanau, hapu and iwi but more particularly demonstrate their commitment to working in the forestry industry.

Value

There will be two Forestry Scholarships of $2500.00 awarded in 2011. In the absence of suitable Forestry applicants the scholarships will be allocated as follows:

• Forestry Scholarship $2500.00
• General scholarship $2500.00
