Hanny van Roekel Prize

Background

The "Hanny van Roekel Prize" was established in 2004 by the New Zealand Netherlands Foundation Inc., a charitable organisation that fosters the recognition of the contribution of persons of Dutch descent to New Zealand society and that aims at strengthening the cultural, educational and scientific relationships between the two countries.

The prize is awarded for the best research paper (maximum 10,000 words) on:

• Any aspect of the Dutch community in New Zealand, or
• Any aspect of the link between the two countries, or
• Any research on The Netherlands from a New Zealand perspective

Eligibility

Applications are open to any student enrolled at the third-year undergraduate level or any higher level at a New Zealand tertiary institution, which has been rated by the Tertiary Education Commission in 2006 for funding from the Performance Based Research Fund (PBRF).

Note: All such students, born in New Zealand or overseas can apply. They do not need to have Dutch ancestry.
