David Johnstone Charitable Trust Scholarships

Background

The David Johnstone Charitable Trust is offering up to fifteen $5,000 scholarships for study at Wintec for students from secondary schools within its designated area in the Waikato- Coromandel Region.

These Scholarships were established in 1996 under the provisions of a Charitable Trust formed by the late David Johnstone, a prominent Waikato farmer.

The Trust makes up to thirty-five $5,000 Scholarships available to secondary school students for first-year study at the University of Waikato and Wintec.

Eligibility

The Trust seeks to select young people who have qualities of character, initiative, enterprise, ingenuity or leadership, with the ability to achieve if given the opportunity. Potential recipients are students who might not otherwise have considered, or whose personal or financial circumstances may have meant that they were not able to consider, proceeding to tertiary education.

Those schools are asked to nominate students enrolled in the 2010 year who will commence their study in 2011. For Wintec, 15 scholarships are available for study in any field. Nomination forms will be sent to schools in August and must be submitted to Guardian Trust, P O Box 1375, Hamilton not later than 28 September 2010.
