TESSOL - Tuition fees scholarships

Background

These scholarships to study towards a Teaching English in Schools for Speakers of Other Languages (TESSOL) qualification are offered by the Ministry of Education to teachers of new migrant, Pasifika and international students in state funded primary, intermediate and secondary schools.

Eligibility

The Ministry of Education is providing an opportunity for New Zealand registered teachers who have at least two years' experience, and are permanently employed in a school, to gain these qualifications. Mainstream/curriculum primary and secondary teachers are especially encouraged to apply, as well as those currently teaching in specialist ESOL classes.

Value

The scholarship provides funding for a total of three to five papers, depending on the course. This includes the cost of course fees for each paper and approximately $100 towards books. The funding period for study is usually over two years (i.e. at a rate of one paper per semester).

Closing Date

The closing date for all applications is Monday 7th of November 2011.
