What research does Wintec do?
At Wintec, our goal is to provide relevant, accessible and innovative research for
businesses, industry and community groups within our region.
Wintec’s applied research facilitates the transfer of technology, innovative
techniques and knowledge. This means we can remain at the forefront of what we teach
and be responsive to the needs of our community.
Ultimately, our research should benefit our local industry and community.
How can this benefit me?
As part of our commitment to working with our industry and community partners, we have
made available a research development and transfer voucher scheme.
The vouchers are ‘research credits’ that can be used to engage Wintec
to conduct applied research up to a certain value.
The extensive use of voucher schemes by enterprise and innovation agencies typically
aligned to a local authority, in Europe, the United Kingdom, and Canada support research,
development, technology transfer and commercial activities.
Who can be involved?
Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) as they are likely to have less resources
to invest in research, development and transfer activities. However, Wintec will consider
research topics from larger organisations.
What type of research?
The type of research to be funded is research that will:
- Solve a problem for industry
- Encourage innovation of products/processes, increasing capability and/or capacity
- Result in the transfer of knowledge from researchers to industry
- Generate ongoing benefits to industry
How will it work?
The vouchers will carry a value or credit for a certain dollar amount of research time/resource from
Wintec. Any business or community organisation with a topic or issue that would benefit
from applied research may apply for vouchers.

How can I apply?
Applications for the first round of 2010 voucher funding scheme close on Wednesday, 31st March at 4pm.
The closing dates for future funding rounds will be advertised as they become available.
