A sample of what to expect
Special Group are a creative advertising agency based in Auckland who enjoy producing original work that gets results for clients. The young agency was recently named the ‘hottest independent NZ agency’ in leading Australasian marketing magazine Campaign Brief, and also featured in the top 5 overall agencies along with multinationals Saatchis, DDB and Colenso.
Special’s recent campaign for Maxshop.com has spread across the world, picking up praise and attention on hundreds of websites - including Kanye West’s blog site. The campaign also made it to the front cover of Campaign Brief, making it the first NZ work to be featured on the cover for two and a half years, and traffic to Maxshop.com has surged.
Another high profile project involved creating the billboard, leaflet and press campaign for the Green party leading up to the 2008 election, including the www.voteforus.co.nz viral marketing website, and for Russel Norman’s contesting of the Mt Albert electorate. Special Group aim to create “the sort of work that you wouldn’t get from an average advertising agency”. Strengths of the company include their efficiency, direct communication and a talent for creating offbeat, eye-catching and effective campaigns.
Spark 09 project manager Susanna Wilford says producing the festival is like producing a play for the stage “bringing together all the different stories of the players (the artists and professionals) and weaving them in together to make for a lively, eclectic, thought-provoking, entertaining festival that moves the audience.”
