Honorary Fellowship for AgResearch Chief Executive

AgResearch Chief Executive Dr Andrew West has received the Waikato Institute of Technology’s (Wintec) highest award - an Honorary Fellowship. The fellowship is to recognise Dr West for his outstanding and distinguished leadership in, and services to, science and specifically to agritechnology.

Dr West, who was appointed as AgResearch CEO in March 2004, has an impressive record as researcher within science management, policy development and strategic planning. He follows in the footsteps of other distinguished New Zealanders, like Sir Edmund Hillary, who received the Wintec Honorary Fellowship in 2002, and Te Arikinui Dame Te Ātairangikaahu who received it in 2006.

Dr West received this honour during Wintec’s 2009 graduation ceremony on Tuesday March 17.
