Student Village at Rotokauri

Last month the Rotokauri Student Village opened its doors, providing short-term accommodation for Wintec’s Mighty River Power students.

The village consists of three four-bedroom houses and one three-bedroom house with one more house still to be built.

The five houses were designed by Wintec architecture and carpentry staff and construction students assisted with a variety of the construction elements of the project. Landscaping around the village is still to be designed and installed by Wintec horticulture students.

The village houses have been fitted with economical construction components such as insulation, eco-lighting solutions, and environment friendly hot water systems. The main idea of incorporating these components into this design-build was to make the village as efficient and sustainable as possible.
