Pecha Kucha Night Hamilton celebrates its third birthday

In what promises to be an exhilarating night, Pecha Kucha Hamilton brings together some of the best minds in the Waikato to celebrate its third birthday on August 10, held in conjunction with the Spark festival.

Pecha Kucha - which originated in Tokyo - is a unique, rapid-fire format in which each speaker shows 20 images, each for 20 seconds. With each presentation lasting just 6 minutes and 40 seconds, the audience experiences an awe-inspiring variety of ideas and projects.

The third birthday event will feature advice on how not to design a submarine in wartime, a top twenty countdown, an insight into growing up on the site of a quarry and reflections on Albert Einstein’s first visit to Hollywood in 1931.

Presenters include Wintec Media Arts design lecturer David Gardener, Waikato Museum Curator/Concept Leader Visual Art Leafa Wilson, 6Twenty’s Simon and Kat Wade, MWDesign’s Mike Williams, and Intellectual Property Strategist Kate Wilson.

Pecha Kucha Night is being held on Tuesday August 10 at the Bill Gallagher Centre, Gallagher Hub, on Wintec’s city campus. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start ($7 door sales-cash only, limited seats available, a cash bar will be operating).
