Business Hub on city campus

When Wintec’s refurbished historical building opens at the end of the month, it will be the new premises for Waikato Chamber of Commerce and Opportunity Hamilton.

Mark Flowers, Wintec chief executive, says: “These organisations foster and support local businesses so are closely aligned with Wintec’s mission of building a stronger community through education, research and career development.

“Having Waikato Chamber of Commerce and Opportunity Hamilton located on campus will strengthen our ties with these key organisations and further demonstrate our commitment to local businesses, the community and Hamilton.”

Wayne Walford, Waikato Chamber of Commerce CEO agrees saying: “Wintec and Waikato Chamber of Commerce both support a strong economic future for Hamilton and the Waikato.

“For us the move is also about being more connected with the city and demonstrating best practice for an office environment that is healthy for our people and our customers.”

Waikato Chamber of Commerce and Opportunity Hamilton will be located at the brick building on the corner of Anglesea and Nisbet streets from August 30.

When it opens in early September, the building will also house Wintec’s Centre for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy and its retail arm Urban Trends, as well as a large events space called The Atrium. A multi-storey car-park is being built next door to provide parking for students, staff and visitors.

A public open day is being held from 11am-1pm on Saturday September 18.
