Graphic Design Pathway

The thing I appreciated most about Media Arts was that you are not restricted to one stream of study, the variety of intermedia made things interesting and helped push my work in new directions.

The Graphic Design section provides individual workspaces for each student and excellent tutors. The excellent facilities make life so much easier for a student.

The broad scope of projects enable you to tailor the project to yourself, giving you more opportunity to explore areas of interest.

Media Arts has given me the confidence and design skills to complete my job at Telecom NZ. I am a Site Editor, with my main responsibility being the re-launch of the intranet site, with new branding, more content, and a tripled audience.

Since then, I have been the main Site Editor of the Sales & Service Intranet. My daily duties include content maintenance and management, technical development and enhancements of the site. I also work on the design of web elements such as banner ads, and site support which includes training, migration, documentation and trouble-shooting.

The design skills that I learnt during my degree studies have enabled me to ensure that the site is consistent, user-friendly and easy on the eye.

The communications skills I gained from my written papers have assisted me in the online management content aspect of my role, as well as giving me the appropriate skills for interpersonal interaction with my workmates.
