Nicky Deeley

Painting/Sculpture Pathway

Grumpy Banjo players, fighting monkeys and exploding squirrels all feature in an exhibition by Nicky Deeley. Nicky graduated from Wintec's Media Arts degree, majoring in painting and sculpture and, since then, has been developing her painting and sculpture practice. Her recent body of work titled, 'With all we could steal' was launched at the 64zero3 gallery in Christchurch. Parts of the show were incorporated into a Wall Drawing at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery in August.

She currently has a large-scale solo show in London. "I had had quite a few shows in New Zealand and felt like I was maybe really starting to get somewhere, but I thought I should really push it, so I thought, yeah, London. Let's see if we can do that," she says. Her show Like a Hammer into a Lake opened on October 19 2007 at East London's Ada Street Gallery.
