Mark Hamilton

Photography Pathway

Mark Hamilton had been photographing for about 10 years prior to completing the Media Arts degree. "When I decided to make photography my career I knew that to succeed I would need a broader range of skills. The Media Arts program provided me the opportunity to gain those skills."

Media Arts also gave Mark the direction he was struggling to find. "Being able to complete assignments in styles that interested me led me to explore my passion for social documentary photography. Media Arts provided me with tutors with the experience to teach me. Offering both feedback and advice, it was invaluable."

Since graduating from Wintec, Mark works as a freelance commercial photographer while also pursuing his own projects. In 2005 he was commissioned by the Waikato Museum to produce images for the exhibition "Rare View - A glimpse into Hamilton's Somali Refugees." This show received national and international recognition.
