Photography Pathway

The three years I spent completing the Media Arts Degree provided me with the wide range of knowledge and skills that I needed to confidently go straight from study into the work environment.

The facilities and programmes are excellent, and the flexibility of the course enables student's to gain a broader knowledge of the visual arts outside of their major.

The tutors are all professionals who not only provide valuable knowledge in an excellent teaching environment, but also the necessary feedback and advice needed to support, motivate and excel their students.

After completing my Media Arts Degree I did a one year Teaching Diploma and before finishing my study had gained a position as an Art Teacher at St Peter's College in Auckland. The role was a demanding and challenging one as photography had not been taught at the school for a long time and there were no facilities or programmes in place.

The knowledge that Media Arts provided me with not only enabled me to set-up and run a successful photography programme for senior student's, but also provided me with the knowledge and confidence to teach art within a wide area of disciplines within the Visual Arts at a secondary level.
