Photography Pathway

I have recently completed a Bachelor of Media Arts with a major in Photography.

I really enjoyed how tech was like a small community, with everybody supporting and understanding where their peers were coming from. The tutors become your guides they push you and pull out the best in you, they also help you to find and create your own style. Previously the direction of my art has been fashion based and I have been lucky to sell work in both the 2005/2006 end of year exhibitions, which has been great.

Upon completing an Internship, in my final year, I was offered a job at Kingsize Studios with Fashion and Commercial based photographer Adam Custins. I have already moved up to Auckland and have started working here. I will be assisting in Studio Management as well as doing hirage. I am also being trained for the New Year to work as both a digital and lighting assistant for other well known photographers. I see this as a great opportunity to help me develop further knowledge in the industry and to also build up my client base. At the moment we are renovating the studios for the New Year, so the fun and hard work begins…

Media Arts has been a great starting and development point for the job I am now working at, giving me the knowledge to understand and communicate with the photography industry. I now see it as my job to continue learning and developing my own skills, so that I can focus these skills in the areas which interest me the most. Adam and Kingsize studios will be my developing point for the next two years.

My goals for the future entail starting my own business, but my one true goal is to always hold that passion for what you do in life.
