Danial Strang

Moving Image Pathway

I studied Media Arts, majoring in Moving Image and graduated with First Class Honours.

Doing an Honours year was important because it gave me a year to focus on a major project and meant engaging in art theory and critical analysis, which now enables me to define, defend as well as critique my work.

I work as a freelance editor/ director, primarily music videos and some television. Contacts I made through tutors and fellow students from Wintec have helped me branch into these fields.

Some achievements since graduating:

• Won six Juice TV Awards for various Music Videos I edited/ directed
• Best Editor at the Kodak Music Video Awards in 2006 for Minuit's "Fuji"
• Nominated for Best Screenplay at the NZ Film and Television Awards 2003 for "Playing a Role", a short film I made while studying at Wintec

My first digital feature film "Invitation to a Voyage", supported by Creative NZ, is currently in Post-Production. After its completion I aim to travel with it, then… maybe I'll have another go…
