Photography Pathway

My Media Arts degree demanded thorough working through of ideas and concepts prior to and during a photographic shoot. This encouraged me to explore innovative ideas and fresh photographic angles. Covering a variety of styles helped prepare me for a range of clients and shooting situations. I was offered assessment and feedback from the tutors, who are all professional artists in their own right. This was something that helped me to become confident with my own work. Having the opportunity to do work experience, (internship) as part of my degree helped me gain the job I am in today.

Since graduating I have worked as a photographic technician, outputting the pictures for the Waikato Times before becoming a photographer for the Times.

Media Arts has given me the confidence in my photography to follow my goal to be a press photographer. I plan to take my experience and become a commercial photographer and then on to tutoring photography in tertiary education. I'd also like to get my Masters in Photography one day.
