Ani completed her Master of Arts painting project with a solo show 'Chocolate Fudge strawberry Sundaes and Other short Stories', at Platform01. The body of illustrative paintings referenced the equally banal and insidious world of suburban life. They depict a fantastical space filled with awkward structures that hint at dangers disguised as everyday objects. Her portraits of wallflowers feature a shifting female character who appears both naive and sinister.
Ani says "I favoured Wintec to continue my postgraduate studies, because of the positive experience that I had had as first an undergraduate and then honours student with the School of Media Arts."
Ani is currently making work for a group show due to be held later this year in Auckland. In her spare time she works as the Art Coordinator at Hamilton Girls' High School and teaches painting at the Waikato School of Art.
