Moving Image Pathway

The Media Arts degree is unique in that it is not strictly an industry based degree, neither is it strictly a fine arts degree. It is somewhere between the two in which it allows students to expand their own creativity and ideas and provides the industry standard tools to help you get to where you want to be.

Within my Moving Image projects I was able to collaborate with students from the Music section for film sound tracks, students from the Graphic Design section for snazzy video covers, other students from the Moving Image section for their various talents and call on the wise advice of all the relevant amazingly dedicated Media Arts staff and fellow folk around.

I have been on a range of Moving Image related adventures since graduating from the program. Most recently though, I have worked on Harry Sinclair's latest feature film as a production assistant. My position was part of a comparatively small crew and involved tasks such as co-ordinating extras and cast, location scouting, general production office tasks and the occasional on-set DV documentation of the making of the film for the EPK. (Electronic Press Kit).

Generally speaking I love variety. Working in film-making is great for this. If I work on someone else's film I get to meet heaps of interesting people, go on adventures, learn heaps, never do the same things day to day and when the job finishes, I get to take on new challenges and / or spend time on my own creative endeavours. Which is where I'm at now, thinking about personal filmic goals and getting inspired by the possibilities… Challenges ahead.
