Media Arts has a range of exciting events happening throughout the year. These events add to the dynamic learning environment that Media Arts offers, and also provide a way for us to include members of the community in a celebration of all things creative.

	Media Bites Media Bites is a quarterly lunch function, aiming to introduce journalism students to the views of top media personalities. Speakers have included leading NZ newspaper editors, foreign correspondents, columnists, media commentators and TV presenters. Those interested in attending should contact Wintec’s Editor in Residence Julie Starr at julie.starr@wintec.ac.nz
	Cut! National High Schools Short Video Competition Cut! is an annual filmmaking competition for high school students, run by Wintec, and just ran for the 6th year. Entrants create a short film between 4 - 6 minutes and compete for a range of exciting prizes, including iMac computers, a Wintec scholarship, and Ricoh digital cameras. 	Spark 2009 Spark International Festival of Media, Arts and Design is a five day long event happening annually in August with speakers presenting on subject areas, from contemporary art, design, writing, acting, photography, publishing, filmmaking and music, to panel discussions with established creative practitioners.
