Personal Statement

"As a member of the Moving Image tutor team, I am able to impart a lot of my knowledge gained over 30 years in Australian film & television production.

'WATANI HABIBI, My Beloved Homeland', Janice Abo Ganis' and my documentary film about Palestinian resistance music travelled the world last year as part of an International Palestinian Film Festival.

I'm now making a documentary film about an Asperger's Syndrome teenager who only started painting in early 2008, but by late 2008 was a finalist in a NZ National Contemporary art prize. He has sold over 70 paintings in New Zealand and internationally. The film is a story about the teenager Yaniv, his family and his life, and the things he loves to do.

I've worked as a director, producer and senior editor in a wide range of genres and styles, and taught editing at the Australian Film, TV and Radio School. So I'm familiar with and able to teach across most of the disciplines in the 3 years of the Bachelor of Media Arts Moving Image course.

The course is a one stop shop for budding filmmakers. The range of experiences gained throughout the course covers both practical and theoretical sides of the industry and equips the student to embark on a career in film and television production."
