Personal Statement

Jeremy Smith spent many years as a journalist in newspapers, radio and television.  Starting on The Press in Christchurch he covered court, general, farming and sport, including pro wrestling. In 1970 Jeremy moved to Wellington and spent five years as a reporter and sub-editor in radio and television. When television was split from radio in 1975 he moved to TVOne as a sub-editor and assistant news editor at Avalon for four years. Three years tutoring journalism in Wellington was followed by a year in radio and six years with TVNZ Christchurch where he was chief reporter then local news producer. Before moving to Wintec in 1995 Jeremy spent three years as late news producer for Canterbury Television.
