Gail Pittaway

Personal Statement

Gail Pittaway is a Senior Lecturer (Principal Academic Staff Member) in the School of Communication and the pastoral care co-ordinator for the Communication stream Year One programme of the Bachelor of Media Arts.

Work Experience

In 2006 Gail edited a book "Writers in the Gardens", bringing together her passions for writing, gardens and reading. In 2007 she edited "Love Street,' an anthology of student writing from Wintec.

Gail is also the Waikato Times theatre critic and contributes regular book reviews for the Nine to Noon programme on National Radio.

She publishes collections and anthologies of student writing from the wintec creative writing classes and is a member of the Hamilton Community Arts Council Literary subcommittee which organises literary events in the Hamilton area.

Professional Affiliations

She is a member of the New Zealand Communication Association, The Tertiary Writing Network and has been an executive member of the Australian Association of Writing Programmes since 2004.

Research & Scholarly Activity

Her research interests include creative writing (poetry, short story and scripts), the teaching of creative writing, and the early and ritual developments in the history of theatre.
