Internships for the Bachelor of Media Arts degree
The Internship programme is designed to allow students to have direct experience with an industry environment that relates closely to their chosen pathway and also keeps their education relevant to and focused on business practices and expectations. This year over 130 of our BMA students negotiated placements across NZ and overseas.
An internship is a more structured form of work experience. Students are encouraged to reflect upon and analyse their experience by keeping a daily journal, constructing a portfolio and presenting a seminar and written report to their peers.
A detailed Learning Contract outlining objectives, projects to be completed and skills to be gained during this work experience is negotiated between the student, employer, and two members of tutorial staff. The purpose of this contract is to ensure a common understanding of the proposed work activities and desired outcomes.
On completion of the internship, the employer will receive an evaluation form, which enables the employer to provide written feedback on diverse aspects of the student's performance. The student's seminar presentation, introductory and summary reports, journal, work portfolio and evaluation form the assessment of the students work.
