Pathways into Programmes

For students who do not meet Wintec's English language requirements there are four main pathways into Wintec mainstream programmes:

1. Certificate or Diploma in English as an Additional Language (18 weeks - 1 year)

   Students who successfully complete the Certificate or Diploma in English as an Additional Language programme may ask for a recommendation from the Centre for Languages to meet selection requirements for their preferred programme, after completion of 18 weeks study.

2. Concurrent Programmes
   

   These allow students to study in a mainstream programme at the same time as studying English. The concurrent programmes also provide successful students with a bridging pathway into further study at degree level. Concurrent programmes are presently available in Business, and Health

3. English Language Proficiency Tests
   

   IELTS Exam (or TOEFL equivalent). If students gain an IELTS score which meets the entry requirements for their preferred programme they may get direct entry into that programme. There is a minimum IELTS writing level which must be reached.

4. English Language Assessment
   

   These are administered by the Centre for Languages. This does not guarantee entry, but will give an indication of your ability. This is for students who have not completed an IELTS exam within the last 3-4 months prior to application. Bookings for the Assessment can be made through the Student Enrolment and Information Centre at a cost of $120. The duration of the assessment is 1 hour 45 minutes.
