You will also complete one live in and several live out placements to put your knowledge and skills into practice.
To successfully complete the programme you will need to meet the requirements for attendance, assignment work, and satisfactory performance evaluations.
Career Opportunities
The New Zealand Certificate in Nanny Education (Level 5) may lead to employment as a Nanny in New Zealand or overseas. A career as a Nanny can take you all over the world and Nannies from New Zealand are particularly sought after in Europe and America. You could also continue on to higher study in education to enable you to work in an early childhood setting.
Entry Criteria
- Be 17 years of age as of 1 January in the year of enrolment, and
- Demonstrate the ability and level of maturity to complete the programme successfully and cope with the demands of working with children, and
- Have completed a minimum of four years’ secondary education with the final year being Year 12, and
- Achieved NCEA Level 1 with a minimum of 12 literacy credits,
- Show evidence of successful study at NCEA Level 2
Special admission may be granted to candidates aged 20 years or over who do not meet the specified entry requirements. These candidates are required to demonstrate an ability to successfully complete the programme through a process of an interview and assessment.
Candidates are required to provide with their application:
- 2 confidential referee reports (on the Wintec forms provided)
- An additional referee report from the School Principal or Dean (on the Wintec form provided) if still at school,
- A current Curriculum Vitae (C.V.) and
- A personal statement.
Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test Score (IELTS) of 5.5, with a minimum of 5.0 in the written band.
To ensure that families / whānau and young children are not exposed to unacceptable risk, candidates are required to make a formal declaration of any criminal convictions and driving offences on their application forms and must consent to a police check.
Candidates are required to attend an interview, which will include a written task, to determine their suitability for the programme and to assess their potential to study at Level 5.
