Do you provide financial advice? The National Certificate in Financial Services (Financial Advice) is now the minimum qualification for those seeking to become an Authorised Financial Adviser (AFA).

Graduates of this programme will have the ability to demonstrate the financial advice process at a level that meets regulatory and industry standards through their knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry, markets and products.

Programme Content

The National Certificate in Financial Services (Financial Advice) is a unit standards based qualification which is delivered in several sets or groups of unit standards at level 5 with a minimum of 50 credits. This qualification can involve a combination of assessment methods.

There are 3 compulsory standard sets and one elective course: Sets A, B and C are compulsory and provide 38 credits. The remaining credits must come from one complete specialist set.

• Standard Set A: Core Knowledge – Industry, financial markets, advice process and products
  (Unit standards BS24755, BS25642, BS25643)

• Standard Set B: Capstone Knowledge of the Code
  (Unit Standard BS26360)

• Standard Set C: Capstone Professional Practice
  (Unit Standards BS25650, 25651, 25652, 25653)

Specialist Standards (Electives)

• Investment specialists
  (Unit Standards BS25648, BS25649)

• Insurance specialists
  (Unit Standards BS25644, BS25645, BS25646, BS25647)

• Residential property lending specialists
  (Unit Standards BS26286, BS26287)

Career Opportunities

To provide financial advice in the financial services industry the national qualification has been set by the Code Committee as the minimum qualification for Authorised Financial Advisers (AFA).

Entry Criteria

There is open entry to this programme although candidates may be required to demonstrate a reasonable likelihood of success.

Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test Score (IELTS) of 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in the written band.

Additional Information

This Certificate will be delivered in a series of half day workshops, facilitated by staff with industry experience and can be customised to suit business requirements. Each credit equivalent 10 hours of study.

Assessment

• Standard sets A, D & E will be assessed by Wintec.
• Standard sets B & C will be assessed by ETITO – (see fees above for additional costs).
